The following individuals are contraindicated for, or strictly prohibited from using, medications such as Semaglutide:
1. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
2. Elderly individuals over the age of 75: Due to naturally diminished gastrointestinal function, they may be unable to tolerate the adverse reactions associated with the medication.
3. Adolescents and children under the age of 18: The indication for weight loss has not yet been approved domestically for this age group; therefore, the medication must not be used for weight management in children.
4. Individuals with a history of acute pancreatitis: Use of the medication carries a high risk of triggering a recurrence. Individuals with a history of gallbladder disease-including acute cholecystitis, biliary obstruction, or gallstones-may also be at risk, as the medication could precipitate an episode of acute pancreatitis.
5. Individuals with severe alcohol dependence who are unable to abstain from drinking: Heavy alcohol consumption significantly increases the risk of acute pancreatitis.
6. Individuals with thyroid nodules classified as high-risk: Prior to initiating treatment, these patients must undergo a thyroid color Doppler ultrasound and a serum calcitonin test; the medication may be used safely only after the risk of medullary thyroid carcinoma has been ruled out.
